Witherspoon added that she felt “really, really lucky” to help bring author Delia Owens‘ 2018 novel—which has sold over 12 million copies worldwide—to the big screen. She shared that she was excited to see people who had read the book and also for those who hadn’t.
Jones, the film’s leading lady, also chatted with Daily PopRed carpet for the movie. Best known for playing Marianne Sheridan on the series Normal people, the actress said she was excited to dive into the many sides of Kya.
Jones stated, “It is really thrilling to see a young girl like her at forefront of the story, where she’s, we know, incredibly complex.” Jones shared that although she is flawed, she is also strong, resilient, gentle and curious.
