Lindsey VonnIs grieving for her mother’s passing

On Aug. 27, the Olympian took to social media to share the heartbreaking news that her mom, Linda KrohnALS, in which she has lost her battle.

She shared the following Instagram photo with her followers: “She died peacefully while I held her hand. This was exactly one year since her diagnosis.” While I cherish every minute with her, I also feel grateful that she is not suffering anymore and is at peace. Her shining light was always there and she will be remembered forever.

Lindsey—who is the most decorated female skier of all time—also re-shared the dedication she wrote to her mother in her 2022 memoir, Rise, calling the passage, “unfortunately fitting now.”

In the original book, she wrote, “She is not my inspiration for what she did to my skiing career but because of how her constant positivity helped shape me into who I am today, on and off the slopes.” She has given me perspective and inspired me through every adversity that I’ve faced. They made her more resilient, kind, and humble despite the numerous hardships she had to face in her adult life. This kind of resilience is what has made me who I am today, since the moment I was born.
