Katie Holmes didn’t waste any time finding a new home for herself and daughter Suri Cruise, Holmes signed the lease on a lush apartment in the Chelsea Mercantile building located in Manhattan’s super exclusive Chelsea neighborhood just days before she filed for divorce to her famous husband. The building has all of the amenities a celebrity would look for. The 21 floor, 354 unit building features doorman and concierge services 24 hours a day, a 10,000 square foot landscaped roof deck, fitness center, valet services, a child’s playroom, and an on site Whole Foods. Even though the couple owns an 8,113 square foot apartment in Greenwich Village that they purchased together back in 2009 for $15 million, it seems Katie wanted her space and a change just as quickly as possible.

Holmes hasn’t given any tours of her new apartment just yet, but it is known that she is renting a 12 bedroom apartment with over 4,000 square feet of living space for $12,500 a month. Her neighbors have nothing but good things to say about her and have commented that “She is a jewel and class act”

On June 29, 2011, Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise after five years of marriage. People close to Holmes stated that Holmes believed she had reason to fear the abduction of Suri by Cruise and she also feared intimidation by the Church of Scientology. This could be the reason that Holmes had a game plan in place before she filed for divorce.

Katie Holmes who first rose to fame for her role as Joey Potter on the WB television teen drama Dawson’s Creek from 1998 to 2003.
