On July 8, Heard’s legal team filed a motion for a mistrial, stating in court documents obtained by CelebHomes News that the trial’s jury list included an individual listed as born in 1945, making them 77 years old, but that voter registration information also listed a 52-year-old with the same last name living at the older person’s address.
The filing stated that “The person who presented for jury duty with the above name was clearly the younger one.” “Thus, the 52-year-old…sitting on the jury for six weeks was never summoned for jury duty on April 11.”
Heard’s legal team argued in papers that Star’s due process was compromised.
Earlier this week, Depp and his lawyers submitted an opposition requesting that Heard’s motion be struck down. The filing stated that Ms. Heard was understandably disappointed with the trial’s outcome, but she had not identified any legitimate grounds to overturn the decision of the jury. “Mr. Depp respectfully suggests that the Court deny Ms. Heard’s PostTrial Motions which are absurd.”
CelebHomes News reached out to Depp’s representatives but has yet to receive a response.
