At one point, the bond became so distant between the pair that Contessa put a for sale sign outside the family’s Atlanta home as a symbol it was time to move out and move on. But after Scott pulled into the driveway, he pushed down the sign and agreed to participate in therapy—a longtime request from his wife.

The parties talked to professionals about how their divorced parents had an impact on their relationship.

Contessa stated that therapy helped Contessa to be more aware of what he was doing. To be truthful, neither of us saw marriage as a positive example growing up. The only thing we did was to try our best and not listen to 10 other people who had 10 different methods. This was just not efficient.
