Realizing Her Power

Elyse started opening up about her mental health online by sharing her experience with bullying as a child. In one video, she said a teacher in middle school discouraged her from trying out for cheerleading because of her size, hinting that she may be too big for the uniform.

In the TikTok, she stated that “I was made conscious of the size and shape of my body before I was ever taught how love it.”

The TikTok resonated with viewers: “Once I got feedback from people about how they had similar experiences, I realized this is something I really need to focus on and speak more about,” she told CelebHomes News, “because people need it and are very hungry for somebody to shine a light on all of it.”

She said, “There is so much power in not changing how I speak or what I do with my make-up. I just want to be me,” she added. The power that I’ve found by giving permission for others to make those changes in their life has just profoundly impacted my life. They will most likely feel it more than you think.

She phrased it best: “I have seen my own self-image radically become healthier,” she said. These videos remind me to always be true to myself.
