Demi spoke out about her new album in a recent interview. Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1. The two-time Grammy nominee stated that everything she writes about is based on her own experiences. I had been through some difficult times last year. “I went back for treatment.”

Demi said some of the songs reflect the anger she felt after she left treatment and had “all of this unresolved trauma” that she was starting to address, noting, “It’s OK to be angry and feel those things.” The “Skyscraper” star also said she wrote songs that “were really empowered in my sexuality” and love songs, including “4 Ever 4 Me” which is “about falling in love with someone.”

She continued, “I haven’t actually written love songs for a while,” she said. “If I go through my catalog, there’s maybe like three or four love songs in the past few albums. “But actually, writing a song about how much I love you. That was it. Like, that has not existed in a lot of my music. These feelings started to come over me and I felt like I had to let them go. And I wanted to write a song that was inspired by ‘Iris’ by the Goo Goo Dolls…and I wrote it. “And my entire heart is in that song.”

Demi answered “Yes!” when she was asked if the song had been played for “the gentleman in doubt.” It is.

She said that this person “understands music very well” and she would be happy to send the roughs or demos. Then I send it to him, and then wait on my smartphone and say “Ahhh!” When I was finished, I played it with him and it was such a wonderful moment. It was almost like my stomach would explode from all the butterflies
