Washington University is without a rising star
Justin Hardy, a basketball player for the St. Louis-based college, passed away early morning on May 29 after spending the last “13 months courageously redefining what it means to live with cancer,” his father Bob Hardy shared on Twitter. He was 22 years old.
According to his GoFundMe statement, the college basketball star was diagnosed in April 2021 with stomach cancer stage 4. “Justin chose to approach this diagnosis as he would attack the defender on court,” read the description of the campaign. The student athlete also continued to study and work for the Wash U Men’s Basketball Team.
Justin received a double-major degree from Washington University because of his commitment.
