A-Rod is putting his lavish Miami Beach, Florida mansion on the market for $38 million. Alex Rodriguez, the New York Yankees All Star third baseman bought the 20,000 square foot waterfront mansion a few years ago for $24 million when he was dating Cameron Diaz. The couple wound up splitting up before the remodeling was even finished, so it isn’t known whether or not A-Rod even lived in the home. The home is expected to sell well since the Miami house market is booming lately.

The mansion is, in a word, extravagant. With 9 bedrooms, 11 full baths and 2 half baths. The home also has a batting cage, a 3,000 square foot gym (which is bigger than most public gyms), a master suite that’s over 2,000 square feet, a home theater room, a commercial sized elevator, twelve foot walls of impact resistant glass that offers an uninterrupted view of the water and skyline.

There is already talk about potential buyers being interested in the property and it has been reported that a $40 million property was recently sold in the area so the odds look good for A-Rod making back his money on the home.

A-Rod is considered one of the best all-around players of all time. He is the youngest player to ever hit 500 home runs, which broke the record Jimmie Foxx set in 1939, and the youngest to hit 600, which beats Babe Ruth’s record by over a year. A-Rod has fourteen 100-RBI seasons in his career, more than any other player in history. On September 24, 2010, Rodriguez hit two home runs, which broke Sammy Sosa’s record of 609 home runs, which made him the all time leader in home runs by a player of Hispanic descent.

In December 2007, the Yankees gave Rodriguez a 10-year contract worth $275 million, which beat his previous record of $252 million. The contract was the largest contract in baseball history.
