Casey Kasem is a radio personality and voice actor. Kasem founded the popular American Top 40 franchise in 1970. Between 1989-1998, he was the host of Casey’s Top 40, Casey’s Hot 20, and Casey’s Countdown. He currently hosts four weekly syndicated radio programs based on the American Top 40 franchise: American Top 20 with Casey Kasem, American Top 10 with Casey Kasem, Casey Kasem’s American Top 40: The 70s, and Casey Kasem’s American Top 40.80.
Now 80 years old and retired, Kasem bought the home in 1989 for $6.8 million. The current price is almost six times what he paid. Jean, Kasem’s wife, remembers the good times at the mansion.
The Holmby Hills estate sits on 2.4 acres. The 12,000-square-foot home has seven bedrooms, 11.5 bathrooms, a main house, a guest house, staff quarters and a heart-shaped pool set off by three Greek-style stone gazebos.
Built in 1954, Kasem’s estate is a wing-shaped Greek Revival mansion that looks fit for any modern hedge fund whiz or movie producer. Sunset Boulevard isn’t far from the home. The house has stone lions out front, a tennis court, and a fountain in the driveway.
It’s the interior we especially love. Over-the-top or garish would be terming it light. This place is almost fit for Liberace. There’s a Warhol of Kasem himself, a king-size bed with a fabric backdrop, two orangish chairs shaped like a Jetson’s hairdo, a French triptych hanging on a sitting room wall, and a marble master bath with a shower that fits a stone cherub statue.
